On Anne-Lise Berntsen – a Different Kind of Concert Performance


Anne-Lise Berntsen´s performing style is deeply personal. It is rooted in her commitment to human conditions throughout history up to the present.
She performs for everybody. Though her platform is classical, she also makes use of shanties, gipsy-, folk-, cabaret-, peace- and war songs, musicals, pop ballades, chansons and contemporary classical music, as well as improvizations.
She is explaining the historical periods and the thoughts contained therein, her function beeing that of a crooner. Anne-Lise Berntsen offers concert series and single concerts on subjects like:

Anne-Lise Berntsens main projects are narrative concerts or concert series on themes dealing with History – on how the history of ideas continuously lives in all of us.
The setting of each concert is a given place during a given period of time.
She unveils the structure of that society, whose different layers are described by her choices of music. Through her repertoire she is shedding a musical light on the condition of man past and present.
